Everyone is invited to the great feast!
Missio launches a promotional video on occasion of World Mission Day. The theme of World Mission Day 2024, which will take place on Sunday, October 20, centres around the great feast that Jesus has prepared, and to which everyone is invited.
On this occasion, Missio has prepared a promotional video that speaks about the theme and values of this important day. The video was made by the National offices of the Australian and Maltese Pontifical Mission Societies, in collaboration with several Missio offices from around the world. Missionaries, national directors, and laypeople, as well as special guest Cardinal Soane Patita Paini Mafi, Bishop of Tonga, shared their call for support of missionary animation and fundraising awareness for World Mission Day. The video is available in the main languages in which Missio operates, in a bid to invite everyone to form part of the Missio project.
“Missionary work is to go and proclaim the Gospel. It is the Gospel that guides us, and the aim of the Pontifical Mission Societies is to raise awareness of the mission while at the same time collecting spiritual fruits and financial sacrifices to give them back according to the needs of the local Churches,” explains Archbishop Nappa, President of the Pontifical Mission Societies. “This vocation also pushes us today to the frontier of re-evangelisation of Churches of ancient Christianity, especially in the West, where the number of Christians is decreasing.”
The three-minute video includes words of encouragement from the protagonists of the missions, religious and laypeople from around the world who have dedicated their lives to the service of those most in need. “On World Mission Day, we are encouraged to go out together into the streets of the world, to meet people and invite them to the feast. We meet different people, from different cultures, but we will all wear one garment—the wedding garment that represents unity, being a family, and a new Church!” said Father Victor Agius, National Director of Missio Malta.

Robert Farrugia, Head of Communications and Fundraising for Missio Malta, said that World Mission Day is a beautiful occasion for Missio to shed light on the work that is carries out daily in developing countries. “World Mission Day is the culmination of a full year of work in favour of beneficial projects in many communities in Africa, Asia, and South America. Thanks to the donations from the Maltese, Missio Malta can make a big difference, where the Church not only saves lives but also forms individuals who help create a better world, where true peace and justice are no longer just a beautiful dream but increasingly become a reality,” Robert Farrugia concluded.

Il-Kap tal-Komunikazzjoni u Ġbir ta’ Fondi ta’ Missio Malta Robert Farrugia qal li l-Jum Dinji tal-Missjoni huwa okkazjoni sabiħa għal Missio li tixħet dawl fuq il-ħidma li titwettaq ta’ kuljum f’pajjizi li qed jiżviluppaw. “Il-Jum Dinji tal-Missjoni huwa l-qofol ta’ sena sħiħa mimlija ħidma, favur proġetti ta’ fejda f’ħafna komunitajiet fl-Afrika, fl-Ażja u fl-Amerika t’Isfel.
