MissioTfal: Empowering Children to be Missionaries of Change

MissioTfal represents the Pontifical Holy Childhood, a key part of the Pontifical Mission Society led by Pope Francis. This initiative believes that children can be significant agents of change in their communities through missionary work. The main idea behind MissioTfal is that children not only learn about missionary teachings but also actively participate in sharing these messages. Our program focuses on developing a sense of missionary awareness among young people, fostering qualities like altruism, gratitude, and self-confidence. This empowers children to help others in need through prayer, learning the Gospel, and participating in activities that allow them to showcase their talents for the benefit of others.

MissioTfal also connects Maltese children with different cultures from developing countries, encouraging them to take action and create positive changes for their peers worldwide. MissioTfal connects Maltese children with various cultures from developing countries, motivating them to create positive changes for their peers worldwide. MissioTfal organizes visits to schools to share stories about different cultures and the challenges faced by children globally. Notable events include:

World Diversity Days: Featuring seven interactive stations such as:

Open Mic and Camera: Students meet a missionary and ask questions.

Costume Display: Students can try on costumes from other countries and take photos.

Diversity in Art: Students express their understanding of diversity through art.

Prayer Flags: Students write messages and prayers for the world.

Craft Station: Children create crafts inspired by global traditions.

And the 5-Star Challenge for Missio, were the school participates in 5 missionary activities throughout the scholastic year and by doing so the school gains the 5-Star token.

Last year we visited 25 different schools, out of which 6 participated in the 5-Star Challenge and 11 parishes around Malta and reached around 8500 students. All this is done to highlight the importance of learning together about the difficulties other children face in missionary contexts. By promoting cooperation and empathy, MissioTfal inspires children to see themselves as vital contributors to building a better future for all children around the world.
