Case Story: Construction of boreholes in Lundazi, Zambia

Sector: Water

Project: Boreholes construction

Location: Lundazi Zambia

Zambia

Access to clean water has always been a major challenge in rural communities. Without it, families cannot drink safely, grow crops, or feed livestock. The lack of clean water also increases the risk of waterborne illnesses, which can have devastating effects on health and livelihoods.

Lundazi, a small town in Zambia, faced these growing challenges and reached out for help. The community’s wells were contaminated, making the water unsafe to drink. As a result, waterborne diseases became widespread, creating serious health and socio-economic difficulties. Women and children were forced to walk long distances in search of clean water, often relying on unreliable sources that were inaccessible, especially during the dry season.

In response, Missio Malta partnered with the Chipata Diocese to provide three boreholes, ensuring a year-round supply of safe, clean drinking water. This life-changing project has helped reduce illness, prevent deaths, and improve overall living conditions.

Thanks to your generosity, this initiative became a reality. Now, the people of Lundazi and nearby communities have the water they desperately needed. Your support has not only provided a basic necessity but also restored dignity and hope to these families. We are truly grateful for your kindness and commitment to making a difference in the lives of those in need.
