The goal of this project is to assist the work being done in Chikwawa, Malawi. The help required is to help those that where displaced due to the damage cause by Cyclone Idai. The main goal of this sponsorship will go to building of damaged homes for the displaced people.

Malawi was greatly hit by cyclone Idai on 4th March 2019 which caused a crisis in humanity and nature in the central east part of Africa. Due to this many people were displaced from their homes to more internal drier areas of Malawi causing many to walk long distances without belongings, home or a place to go settle in. Missio Malta together with sponsors assisted displaced people in Chikwawa, a severely hit region in the south of Malawi, to rebuild their homes in more internal, drier  areas of the country.

Cyclone Idai brought strong winds and caused severe flooding in more than one country including Madagascar, Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe, which caused the lives of at least 1,303 people and affected more than 3 million others. Moreover, a cholera outbreak ensued in the storm’s wake, with more than 4,000 confirmed cases and seven fatalities by 10 April 2019.
