World Mission Sunday 20th October 2024
“Go, invite everyone you find to the banquet”
(MT 22:9)
Our health is very important! We do our best to eat well, exercise and make sure our children have everything we can give them, to grow up strong and healthy.
In Uganda people so the same, although with many limitations and so not always succeed. Sister Maria Goretti is 75 years old, and although she has a serious cancer, she runs a hospital that serves the needs of hundreds of people from an extended area of the country.
“As a person who works in the medical field, my mission is to serve. I feel great satisfaction that I can give something to my community,”
Sister Maria Goretti
The hospital was built with the work and generosity of Missio Malta and is a giant step forward from the misery that existed before. However, it still lacks a lot so that it can cope with the needs of the community.
Remaining are the solar panels so that this hospital will have a supply of electricity all the time. In this way, they can turn on the incubators for babies who are born prematurely and thus be saved.
Remaining is an operating theatre so that mothers who have a complicated delivery can be given more specialized and modern care, so they too can be saved.
“If we have an operating room we will be able to save many mothers and their babies,”
Sister Maria Goretti
These are all basic needs that are costing the lives of many babies and mothers; loss of several lives unnecessarily.
Sister Maria Goretti, despite her illness, has an energy that inspires you. She has not given up on continuing to help thousands of mothers every year through primary care, support during pregnancy, and help during and after childbirth.
“As long as God gives me strength, I will stay here!”
Sister Maria Goretti
Help Missio Malta provide more aid to this hospital in Uganda and help Sister Maria Goretti continue her work in this community.Join us throughout the month of October and on World Mission Day on Sunday 20th, and accept the invitation of Pope Francis so that we can go and invite everyone we find to the banquet. Let us live the Holy Gospel in practice, by giving our support to Missio Malta.
