Missio Malta at Notte Bianca 2024
Once again, Missio Malta will be participating in Notte Bianca, Malta’s foremost cultural event, which this year is set to take place on Saturday, October 5. Missio Malta will be welcoming members of the public as it offers a window onto its missionary work around the world at its stand on Merchants Street, near Melita Street. “This year, we thought of giving a rich taste of the work that Missio Malta carries out in underprivileged communities around the world. We are doing this because we believe that our missionaries’ work deserves recognition, while also ensuring that the public stays informed about the latest developments in the projects they support with their donations. In addition, there will be attractions and entertainment for those visiting Missio Malta’s stands, in the spirit of evangelization and missionary values,” said Robert Farrugia, Head of Communications and Fundraising at Missio Malta.
The main attraction this year will be the Tree of Hope, through which the public will provide hope to thousands of people in various locations in Africa. The tree will be decorated with small angels, crafted by artisans in Uganda, which the public can obtain against a small donation. These donations will go directly toward scholarships for the education of children in Uganda, making the tree a symbol of hope for a better future for many children. The public will also have the opportunity to learn about the different cultures in which Missio Malta operates in the area known as the Diversity Zone. In this area, both adults and children will enjoy learning about the food, costumes, and traditions of cultures in Africa, Asia, and South America through various activities, including art.
The popular attraction Walk in My Shoes will use VR technology and treadmills to take members of the public on a long walk in Africa, where thousands of people walk kilometers every day to fetch water. Missio Malta’s stand at Notte Bianca on Saturday, October 5 will be located in the vicinity of St. James Church in Valletta, on Merchants Street near Melita Street.
