New Chapel at Missio Malta inaugurated by Cardinal Tagle
Cardinal Luis Tagle visited the office of Missio Malta in Mosta on Thursday 9th May. During his visit he inaugurated a new chapel within the offices of Missio Malta, which will serve as a place for meditation and prayer for workers, volunteers, and visitors.
“This is not just an office, and this chapel is proof that our work as missionaries is central to the essence of the church,” said Cardinal Tagle during the inauguration. He said that the church would die without its missions, as the Christian zeal would disappear. “No Christian is exempt from becoming a missionary, as we are all called to spread the message of the Gospel of Jesus,” His Eminence said. In a brief welcome address, Fr Victor Agius, Director of Missio Malta said that it was a blessing that the inauguration of the chapel coincided with the feast of Malta’s first saint, St George Preca, as it underlined the mission of Evangelisation, which was central to the mission of the Saint Preca.
Robert Farrugia, Head of Communications and Fund Raising of Missio Malta said that the chapel would provide a corner of peace in the Missio offices, emphasising the importance of prayer in everyday life. He said that the construction of the chapel formed part of a wider refurbishment process that took place throughout the building which serves as Missio Malta’s head offices. The design of the chapel was entrusted to local artist Anthony P. Vella who explained that it was inspired by the Christian journey which starts from the cross of Christ and is fulfilled in his Resurrection. Cardinal Tagle who is the Pro-Prefect for the Section of Evangelisation of Dicastery for Evangelisation, visited Malta on invitation of the Faculty of Theology, and the Theology Students Association at the University of Malta.
Kappella ġdida f’Missio Malta inawgurata mill-Kardinal Tagle
Il-Kardinal Luis Tagle żar l-uffiċċji ta’ Missio Malta fil-Mosta nhar il-Ħamis 9 ta’ Mejju. Waqt din iż-żjara huwa inawgura kappella ġdida fl-istess uffiċċji ta’ Missio Malta, li ser isservi bħala post ta’ meditazzjoni u talb għall-ħaddiema, voluntiera u l-viżitaturi.
“Dan mhux biss uffiċċju, u din il-kappella hija l-prova li xogħolna bħala missjunarji huwa ċentrali għarruħ tal-Knisja,” qal il-Kardinal Tagle waqt l-inawgurazzjoni. Huwa qal li l-Knisja tmut mingħajr il-ħidma Missjunarja, hekk kif iż-żelu Nisrani jisparixxi. “Ebda Kristjan m’huwa eżentat milli jsir missjunarju, hekk kif kollha aħna mgħajtin biex inxerrdu l-Vanġelu ta’ Ġesù,” huwa qal. F’diskors qasir ta’ merħba, Dun Victor Agius, id-Direttur ta’ Missio Malta qal li kienet grazzja li linawgurazzjoni tal-kappella kienet qed issir nhar il-festa ta’ San George Preca, hekk kif qiegħedet enfasi fuq il-missjoni tal-Evanġelizzazzjoni, li kienet tant ċentrali għall-missjoni tal-qaddis Malti.
Robert Farrugia, il-Kap tal-Komunikazzjoni u Ġbir ta’ Fondi ta’ Missio Malta qal li l-kappella kienet maħsuba li toffri rokna ta’ paċi fl-uffiċċju ta’ Missio, li tagħti importanza għat-talb fil-ħajja ta’ kuljum. Huwa nnota li t-twaqqif tal-kappella kien jifforma parti minn proċess ta’ tisbiħ li seħħ matul il-binja kollha li sservi bħala l-uffiċċji ewlenin ta’ Missio Malta. Id-diżinn tal-kappella ġie fdat f’idejn l-artist lokali Anthony P. Vella li spjega kif kienet ispirata mill-vjaġġ Nisrani li jibda mis-salib ta’ Kristu, u jsib il-milja fil-Qawmien tiegħu. Il-Kardinal Tagle, li huwa l-Pro-Prifett għas-Sezzjoni tal-Evanġelizzazzjoni tad-Dekasteru talEvanġelizzazzjoni, żar Malta fuq stedina tal-Fakultà tat-Teoloġija u l-Għaqda Studenti tat-Teoloġija, fi ħdan l-Università ta’ Malta.
