New Director Missio Malta

Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples of the Santa Sede appointed Mons. Valentino Borg as a new director of Missio Malta (Pontifical Mission Society) for the next 5 years (2018-2023). Missio has the aim of helping Pope Francis to spread the missionary spirit with the priests, religious people, adults and children and encourage helping the poor through projects in vulnerable areas. Missio has the function to evangelise the Good News of Jesus unconditional love to all in countries that never heard the Good News.

Mons. Valentino Borg was born on the 29th December 1954. His primary education was in Paola, whilst the secondary education was in the Archbishop seminary. He read his degree in Philosophy and Theology in the Faculty of Theology, Seminary, Virtu, Rabat. 

Dun Valentino became ordained priest on the 11th July 1981. He began his pastoral work as an assistant parish priest in the village of Tarxien (1981-1995). He became the parish priest of Għargħur in 1995 to 1998, then in a small north village of l Imġarr from 1998 to 2003, in Msida from 2003 to 2006 and in the southern village of Kirkop from 2015 to 2017. 

Dun Valentino also contributed in the education sector, since he was a religion teacher in the Archbishop Seminary and as a religious councillor in various government schools. He also served as the Archbishop’s delegate for the secretariat for Liturgy, Archbishop’s Master of Ceremonies, Administrative Secretary in Archbishop Curia, National Director of Altar Servers Association                   and Director of elderly home.
